The sheer size of the Internet which now includes a broad variety of wired and wireless communication modalities, and the increasingly diverse range of node and terminal equipment ranging from RFID and sensor nodes all the way to massive routers, makes it increasingly difficult for network applications to rely on a single known and stable infrastructure. As we seek ways to deal with this increasing complexity and variety, the natural and social sciences can provide inspiration concerning successful forms of networked organisations. This workshop will address leading edge research in these areas both from an experimental perspective, and through the use of modelling methods and tools. It will bring together contributions which include but are not limited to the following areas:
- Self-aware and self- adaptive network design and evaluation
- Autonomic networks
- Network self-healing, security and self-defence
- Experimental test-beds and case studies
- Machine learning techniques in networks
- Neurophysiology based network algorithms, including neural networks and learning algorithms
- Network algorithms inspired by genetics and immunology
- Network routing and search schemes inspired by foraging
- Information dissemination and gossiping
- Network epidemics
- Applications to routing, congestion control, path discovery, ad hoc self-organisation, power control
This one day workshop will include 1 or 2 keynotes, and contributed papers.
Publication of accepted papers: All papers presented in this workshop will be included in the main proceedings and published by the IEEE.
Registration: Following the convention of past MASS conferences, there will be no workshop-only or workshop-specific registration. The basic conference registration will include the ability to attend any and all workshops. Moreover, as per standard policy, each workshop paper will need to have at least one author register at the FULL conference rate.
Paper submission:
1) Papers are due by May 14, 2007 (Extended deadline) and should be received by Erol Gelenbe (by email at e.gelenbe@imperial.ac.uk), limited to 6 pages in the standard 10pt, double column IEEE format including figures and references.
2) Acceptance notification will be sent to authors by July 15, 2007
3) Final papers due in camera ready form will be due by August 10, 2007
